Squires Barnett were engaged to refurbish and extend a four-bedroom stone-built home located some nine miles North of Hexham in the picturesque village of Ingoe, Northumberland.

The home, a former Mill built in the late 1890’s, had experienced a number of out-dated modifications during the 1970s and 80s. It was in need of architectural alteration to meet the demands of modern family living for the current residents.

Working with the client’s objectives to create a welcoming and practical family home, Squires Barnett undertook a full-remodel of the house in order to create a contemporary family home with an open-plan kitchen/dining/living room. To provide additional family living space, Squires Barnett worked with a palette of existing materials and designed an extension to the north, in keeping with the character of the existing building

Squires Barnett saw the extension of the house, along with the replacement of all windows, upgraded services and a new landscape strategy and terracing to the gardens, linking the now remodelled home with the outside.
